We sitting down with Rebecca Dickenson, one of our esteemed educators at Rapture, for a quick-fire question session to explore her passion for being an educator since she joined our team in 2024.
What do you enjoy about educating?
For me, it’s about seeing the satisfaction people have when they learn something new, master a new technique or simply work confidently and independently in an environment that supports and encourages them.
I adore teaching others and sharing my skills with them and encouraging them to follow a path that inspires them.
I have a fantastic team at Rebecca Dickenson Hair Body and Soul and seeing their ongoing learning, and being there to mentor and coach them, is very special.
I like developing leaders and experts in all different areas of hairdressing,it gives me such pleasure when I see someone succeed.
I’m the woman you will see clapping and cheering them on!
How is Rapture different from other brands?
It’s designed with the professional hair Stylist in mind…
The quality that it offers and the ease with which it can be applied and removed from the hair sets it apart from other brands.
Ethically sourced with tape that’s designed specifically to be used on hair.
Education is key for Rapture and we want to work with the salons to help them be truly successful with the product. Key in this is that salons that partner with Rapture are offered affordable training, whilst keeping the quality of the education and product at a very premium level. Seeing how satisfied salon owners and clients are when they’ve chosen Rapture extensions makes me very proud to be a part of the brands future.
I’m looking forward to running some creative competitions that the consumers can get involved with the future of the brand is looking very exciting!
Can you share a memorable client transformation or experience that reaffirmed your passion for hairstyling and the impact it can have on an individual’s confidence and self-expression?
I’m lucky in that I’m always making memorable moments, both for clients and the collections that I’ve worked on over the years.
But perhaps my biggest driving factor was taking the decision to launch a new salon, on my own, and bring to life the dream I had always had. Being master of your own destiny can be hard, but it is always incredibly rewarding, and I feel so proud of what I and my team have achieved so far.
Seeing the impact that hairstyles and hairdressing can have on people is fantastic! Whether it’s a client who leaves feeling amazing, a model in a collection that works with me to create memorable styles and images, or a member of my team feeling utterly pleased about the work they have done; it all impacts on someone’s wellbeing in such different ways.
What inspired you to pursue a career in hairstyling, and how has your journey shaped your approach to hairdressing today?
I’d wanted to be a hairdresser for as long as I can remember and started working in salon at 13.
I was lucky enough to have some great role models in my very early career, indeed one of those now works with me in my salon.
As my passion grew for the industry I branched out into the industry managing team inspire and working with some industry legends.
I’ve finalised in the British Hairdressing awards 4 times won International black and white and so on.
These collections have also been featured in publications across the globe.
My biggest passion as well as hairdressing is business, having my own salon and developing the brand as well as my own career and those within my team.
I’m proud of my achievements so far, and having built a salon where customers and staff feel comfortable, empowered and supported to excel and be their best selves.
In an industry that constantly evolves with trends and techniques, how do you stay creatively inspired and up-to-date with the latest styles and innovations?
I suppose it’s the same with anything that you care about or are passionate about. You want to be the best that you can be, and I spend a lot of time researching, reading, learning, and being inspired by travel and my ambitions to ensure I, my team and the salon remain the best. I love what I do, and the industry I work in, and I think that passion drives learning, creativity, and success.
