Rapture Hair Extensions, has teamed up with environmental public charity, Matter of Trust. Rapture is encouraging UK salons to return any used hair pieces to help create innovative solutions for cleaning up oil spills.
The non-profit organisation, established more than 20 years ago, has a mission to link surplus with needs. They uses the hair donations it receives from individuals and salons to create felted mats. Which are used to soak up petrochemicals and help keep waterways clean.
What makes human hair so effective is that it is adsorbent. Which means it can get coated in oil without swelling up like a sponge. Thanks to its unique structure, one pound of hair can soak up one litre of oil in just one minute.
Rapture hair extensions will last between 6-8 weeks before an easy removal, re-application, and styling. While the quality of the real hair piece means that the extensions can be re-used for between 3-9 months. Depending on aftercare and maintenance.
